The county is both Sweden's northernmost county and the area's largest, the county occupies approximately one quarter of Sweden's total area. It is also the only county that has land borders with two other countries, Norway and Finland. County consists of Norrbotten and the northernmost part of Lappland. There are both Sweden's highest mountain Kebnekaise, 2117 meters above sea level and the country's deepest lake, Hornavan 232 yards. The county is a county of contrasts, contrasts between winter darkness and midnight sun, mountains and sea, rural and urban areas and a lot of different cultures. There is also the most lakes about 30 000, 20 mil of coastline and 2,500 mil flowing water.
It is not to be missed when visiting the Norrbotten is the unique Ice Hotel which is the only hotel that is built entirely out of snow and ice. Ice Hotel is built every winter in Jukkasjärvi and is today one of Northern Europe's largest touriskattractions.
